Se los voy a resumir y luego lo leen a detalle si quieren. La cosa es asi: dicen que las gasolineras nos estan estafando de a poquitos y parece que si es cierto. Como nosotros siempre pedimos que le echen X rojos de gas, lo que pasa es que las maquinas dan un menor porcentaje de gasolina, talvez un 90% segun lo que he oido. Si pedis en litros si sale exacto, pues asi es como les hacen las auditorias a las gasolineras.

Yo pense que era solo una hablada, pero el nissan de mi mama que se llenaba con 23 mil colones desde vacio, pidio este finde que se lo llenaran con X litros (recordando el numero que siempre dice) y se le lleno con 19 mil. Mi hermano calcula que le esta sacando 50 kilometros mas pidiendolo por litros.

Es otra de las formas en la que los ticos se tratan de aprovechar de los demas. Esa mentalidad del tico que tanto odio. Si en la sociedad hubiera menos personas tratando de jugar de “vivazos” y mas gente trabajara duro y cooperaramos los unos con los otros, todos ganariamos. Pero por gente como esta es que seguiremos siendo un paisito tercermundista feliz por que hace buen cafe y tiene mucho turismo (claro, el turismo basicamente esta desequilibrando todo nuestro ecosistema por que la gente solo piensa en cuanto le puede sacer de plata al gringo y no que esta destruyendo para su propio beneficio)

Volviendo al tema de la gasolina, QUE DESCARO!!!! Vean el correo que enviaron, el cual no creia hasta que en mi familia y algunos amigos lo comprobaron.

“Cuando vamos a cargar gasolina siempre pedimos múltiplos de dinero, según nuestros bolsillos (5000,10000, 20000 etc) o decimos: ‘llenelo’ pues ahí esta la trampa, cuando el despachador ‘programa’ colones o solo abre la bomba manda una señal a la computadora central de la gasolinera y esta a su vez le envía a la bomba que despache litros de 900, 850 ó 800 mililitros en vez de 1000 que es un litro, a través de un software especial, así de triste.

Lo cual quiere decir que por cada ¢1000 de gasolina en realidad recibes, si bien te va, ¢900. Así que has cuentas cuanto te han robado en el último año si cargas promedio ¢10000 diarios sencillo entre 3,000 y 4,000 colones, esto multiplicado por millones de autos. ¿Como evitarlo? Cuando cargues pide que te carguen múltiplos de 20 litros (20,40,60 etc) no en colones según la capacidad de tu vehiculo, las bombas pueden despachar por litros, ¿donde esta el truco? Muy sencillo. Las cubetas verificadoras son de 20 litros exactos, cuando esto sucede el software recibe alerta que existe una posible revisión oficial y ordena a la bomba mande los 1000 mililitros exactos que contiene un litro.”

Skype is a cheap way to talk… is it?

Today I was beginning to write a post on one thing that really annoys me from the new business version of skype. As soon as I dial in to a conference call, while I am hearing the “welcome to the microsoft conference calling center….” message I always start dialing the passcode. However, every time I am doing it I get a “Your microphone is too quiet message”. I know my microphone is quiet, I am not talking. I am dialing in. Thanks for the info, but can you show a balloon or a different message?

The bottom line is when you show the message, you move the dial pad which makes me miss and have to dial in again and talk to myself which makes me feel stupid.

But back to my new thought. Skype is cheap, yes. But today I checked how much money I have spent in the last couple of years and SURPRISE! I’ve spent $895. Seems pretty steep. However makes me wonder how much it would’ve costed me if I used traditional methods.

I was impressed when I saw $895, but given that a 30 minute call is like $20 through traditional lines calling the US from Costa Rica, I am delighted to pay for Skype. Little by little you see your payments grow to close to 1k!

I have skype in, skype out, voice mail, forwarding and more and I would have to say that it is definitively worth it!

Why is it that if you study something that has “computer” somewhere in your job title then you automatically become a power point/word/picasa/save hard drives/excel and everything-else-computer-related expert?

We currently hit a wall in one app I was working with. The SharePoint My Site is located (by default?) in port 82. Simply move them to port 80.

Resulta que la primera vez que recibi una notificacion de este tipico llame en panico pues segun yo me habian robado la tarjeta pues no hice ninguna de esas compras. Pero despues de revisar un rato con servicio al cliente de credomatic me dicen que “no se preocupe, es solo un error del sistema. Le enviamos un correo equivocado. A veces pasa…”.

Acaso no piensan las implicaciones de un error de este tipo? No es un error simple, estan cometiendo errores con el dinero de personas. BAC San Jose, sean mas serios por favor. Con el dinero no se juega.

Ah por cierto, me queje y me dijeron que habian arreglando el problema. Mentira, sigue pasando. Ya van 3 asi que decidi escribir al respecto.

Por ahora sigo con este problema, vamos a ver cuando me lo arreglan…

I’ve been working a bit here and there with www.SalesForce.com. Last thing I did today was add the webtocase.html servlet so that from your site you can get information added directly into your crm account and then you can use all of SalesForce’s workflows and capabilities to keep track of your potential customers.
